Getting a real provider directory

The call that gets you an actual, usable list

Why this is its own call

The online directory is often wrong, full of providers who moved, retired, or aren't taking patients. This script gets you a current list and, more importantly, gets the gaps documented.

The opening

"I'm looking for an in-network [psychiatrist / ADHD evaluator / therapist] who is accepting new patients. Can you give me names and direct phone numbers?"

The phrase that gets you transferred

If the rep can't help:

"Could you connect me with care coordination, or whoever maintains the provider network? I'm having trouble finding anyone in-network who's available."

When the list is useless

This is the valuable part. If every name is a dead end:

"I've now called [number] of the providers you listed and none are taking new patients. I'd like that documented. Can I have a reference number for this issue?"

📌
A documented "your network has no available providers" is leverage. In many plans it can support a request to see an out-of-network provider at in-network cost. Get the reference number every time.
